IBIZA
Ibiza: The island of pristine waters, exceptional excursions,
and bad decisions. My trip to Ibiza consisted of two nights and three days, but
was just enough time to dive into everything Ibiza had to offer. Ibiza is an
incredibly small island off the coast of Eastern Spain that runs about 40
miles to each end. It is famously known to be the biggest party island in the world. Ibiza makes appearances in many famous songs and movies where we
are constantly reminded of its ranking in one of the top places to visit on Earth.
When arriving to Ibiza, we were quickly educated on the
history of the country and what it was known for before it became the renowned party destination it is today. Ibiza was actually one of the largest shipping
ports that was once founded in 654 BC by Phoenician settlers. It was soon used as a "halfway point" between countries and was also a major trading post that lied among Mediterranean routes. Throughout this time and on, Ibiza had gathered much history within the city which consisted of shrines and beautiful buildings which now lie in the center of Old Town Ibiza. It was astonishing to see that the architecture in Ibiza was perfectly conserved and also completely open for the public to take in the history!
Although the history in Ibiza was astounding, the Ibiza waters stole the show and our hearts in a matter of seconds. On our first full day in Ibiza, Nella, Sydney, and our new friend Chris-(that was actually from the United States and was traveling alone)- found an Ibiza boat/cave tour that took us through the best and most beautiful waters that Ibiza had to offer. There are no words to describe the extent to how clear and pristine the water was. The entire day felt like a movie. Not to get too dramatic, but it's safe to say that the three hour boat tour was one of the best three hours of my life. It was truly mesmerizing to see something like that in person, and also be able to swim in and around the remarkable caves in Ibiza.
We finished our day by visiting the furthest end of Ibiza to be able to watch the sunset before we began our night. It is said that "Ibiza sunsets are some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world", so of course, we had to make time to be able to experience this prominent scene. With no surprise, the sunset lived up to its beauty and was an unforgettable sight to see. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that I will be visiting Ibiza again sometime soon- and maybe even choose to live there when retirement hits! Lol. This was definitely a life-changing trip that I will remember forever.
